Wood dryer refers to the water escaping from the wood, that is to force the water in the wood to evaporate and escape manually, so as to reduce the moisture content of the wood to the level equivalent to the local equilibrium water content, and prevent the wood from mildew, erosion by insects and bacteria and cracking and deformation in the process of storage, transportation and use. Wood dryer is a kind of equipment which can effectively remove wood moisture. The process flow of wood drying equipment is sorted out as follows.
Technology of wood drying equipment:
Most of wood belongs to capillary porous colloidal materials. The initial humidity of the log is about 50%, the humidity after drying is about 10%, and the critical humidity is about 30%. Therefore, most of the water removed during wood drying belongs to capillary bound water and osmotic bound water. The moisture diffusion in wood controls the drying rate of wood. For the drying quality of wood, the whole drying process can be roughly divided into three stages: preheating, dehumidification and homogenization.
1. In the preheating stage, the wood is heated by humid air with high temperature and humidity to reach the drying temperature. Wood preheating can prevent wood surface from drying and hardening, which will lead to cracks, warpage and other defects in the drying process.
2. In the dehumidification stage, wood drying equipment uses high temperature and low humidity wet air to dry wood. Most of the moisture in wood is carried away by wet air. In this stage, the humidity and temperature of humid air have great influence on the drying quality and speed of wood, which should be strictly controlled.

3. In the homogenization stage, commonly known as "stewing kiln", the dried wood is kept in a heat-insulating and gas insulated drying chamber (or drying kiln) for a certain period of time, so as to eliminate the internal temperature, humidity gradient and internal stress of the wood, and improve the drying quality of the wood.

During the normal operation of the wood drying equipment, the fuel is completely burned in the combustion chamber to generate heat energy. The heat energy is fully absorbed by the drying medium in the thermal drying system to generate a temperature of about 170 ℃. Under the action of the fan, the high-temperature air is transported to the drying chamber to dry the wood through the control system and the conveying system; At the same time, the steam generator on the equipment can produce a lot of atmospheric steam. According to the requirements of drying process, the steam can be sent to the drying room in time to spray steam and control the humidity of wood.
The humidity control system is a stand-alone steam system with a device. The moisture content in the surface layer is lower than that in the interior of the wood, and the internal moisture moves to the surface layer under the action of moisture gradient. The initial drying rate depends on the evaporation rate of moisture on the surface of wood, and the drying speed in the middle and later stages depends on the moving speed of moisture in the wood, which is inversely proportional to the thickness of wood and the specific gravity of wood. In addition, sapwood dried faster than heartwood. The chord board of a broad-leaved tree dries faster than the diameter board. However, there was no significant difference in chord diameter of coniferous wood. The drying effect of wood dryer is greatly affected by tree species.
